A driver is dead after a vehicle crashed into a tree in South Lane County, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said in a Saturday release. 

Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 10 p.m. Thursday, May 21, to a report of a crash along the 3,200 block of Dillard Loop south of Eugene. The caller reported the driver was not responsive. 

Pleasant Hill Fire, Goshen Fire and South Lane Fire also responded to the crash. The driver was extricated and transported by ambulance to an area hospital and did not survive. 

The sheriff’s office identified the driver as Isaac Richard Aanrud, 49, a Creswell resident.
