Quick Take:
Skip the flowers that quickly fade and treat mom to lasting enjoyment with a gift basket filled with delicious local flavors. From mimosa kits to unique naan platters featuring Lane County specialties, these edible gifts celebrate Eugene's food scene while giving mom delicious treats she can savor now and later.
Flowers and hanging baskets are easy go-to gifts for honoring special moms on Mother’s Day. While flowers have their moment, however, every mom has got to eat. So I suggest swapping the traditional bouquet that won’t last very long for something she can savor long after Sunday.
For these gift suggestions, I browsed local markets that offer specialty food items and selected products that, for the most part, are made in Lane County. Gift baskets of food items are a great way to offer a variety of local treats and experiences for Mother’s Day without giving your mom something that collects dust.
These items were purchased locally from Provisions Market Hall, Capella Market, and The Kiva.
If you’re interested in taking your mother out to eat, check out our list of area restaurants offering special Mother’s Day menus or preordered meals for pickup.

Mimosa basket
Start with some delicious fruit juice like Alain Milliat pear nectar ($11.95, Provisions), so your mom can make a bellini or mimosa. Brutto ma Buoni (“Ugly but Good”) chocolates are made locally in several flavors ($16.50, Provisions).
Add in a package of locally made D’lectables shortbread ($7.50, Provisions) and a bottle of champagne, and your mom can make a fancy drink and have some delicious nibbles. Provisions also sells fancy glassware that would be a welcome addition to a mimosa kit basket.

Tea basket
Oregon Tea Traders creates high-quality loose-leaf tea using locally grown ingredients wherever possible. Oregon Rain tea is a 100% Oregon-grown blend of lemon balm, lavender, rosemary, and spearmint ($12.35, The Kiva).
Creamed honey is a nice choice because it is soft, creamy, and easy to spread, with no drips. Ambroson creamed honey is from local hives ($13.99, The Kiva). Pistakio Pistachio Spread is made in Portland. While they make a smooth pistachio spread, they also offer the first crunchy pistachio spread in the United States. Why is it called “spread” and not “butter” or “cream”? It’s not waxy and thick like many nut butters are, nor is it overly sweet like a cream ($18.95, Provisions). Royal Blueberries blueberry spread is made from berries grown in Eugene ($7.15, Capella Market).
Honey Mama’s truffle bars are made in Portland from healthy and delicious whole ingredients such as sprouted almonds, coconut oil, and honey as the only sweetener — but it tastes like the furthest thing from health food ($4.29, Capella Market). Honey Mama’s is available in several flavors, so choose one you know your mom likes, such as coconut, ginger cardamom, mint, salted almond, and new peanut butter cookie. If you want to enhance your tea kit, consider adding a nice tea pot or tea basket.

Naan Basket
Consider a unique gift suggestion for a mom who likes international flavors.
Other than the artichoke bruschetta spread ($4.30, The Kiva), everything reflects local ingredients. By adding the package of four naan flatbreads ($5.95, Provisions) along with selected toppings, mom can create her own appetizers for a special night in or customized lunch platters with friends.
Dip into or drizzle on the rich Durant olive oil ($21.09, Capella Market), made from olives grown in Dayton, Oregon. Chili Royale Beast in the East chili crisp combines warm Indian spices with coconut ($12.60, The Kiva — also available at the Lane County Farmers Market). Olympia Provisions makes quality cured meats in a variety of flavors.
I’m partial to finocchiona salami flavored with fennel ($10.99, The Kiva). Abraham’s Smoked Salt ($8.59, Capella Market) is a nicer price than Jacobsen Salt Co., super delicious, and the scoop it comes with feels like a bonus. Sprinkle on avocado toast, potatoes, fish, eggs, garlic bread … the options are endless.
Pisces smoked albacore ($9.25, Capella Market) is line-caught tuna, hand-packed by an Oregon micro cannery.

Sweets Basket
Even if your mom doesn’t have a sweet tooth, she will appreciate having a few sweets to nibble on now and then.
Black Market Toffee has a shop in the 5th Street Market Alley, where they sell award-winning small-batch toffee. I chose Dreamy — made with white chocolate, orange, and pecans ($14, Black Market Toffee).
Euphoria Chocolate Co. makes edible heart-shaped chocolate shells filled with chocolates for special occasions such as Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. This chocolate heart is filled with eight caramels enrobed with dark chocolate, or choose milk chocolate. ($27.49, Euphoria Chocolate Co.)
My Mom’s Kitchen makes cookie dough so your mom doesn’t have to — and it might even be better than hers ($6.09, Capella Market).
Small Batch Jam Co. is a California-based business making a variety of jams and spreads, and the berry flavors are made from berries grown at Johnson Farms in Eugene. Tayberry ($11, Small Batch Jam Co.) is a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry. The pear walnut conserve ($4, Small Batch Jam Co.) is not a local product, but it is perfect for spreading on toast, mixing into yogurt, dolloping on a pork chop, or adding to a cheese board. Visit Small Batch Jam Co.’s 5th Street Market Alley’s storefront for these and many other varieties.
