Restaurant inspections
County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.
- El Buen Taco Taqueria at 2147 Main Street, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on August 12. The restaurant scored 92 out of 100. The inspector found that food and supplies were stored in a mobile unit that is not licensed as a warehouse, which is not allowed. The restaurant was told to either get a proper license or store items only in the mobile unit. This was fixed by removing the extra storage. Also, a handwashing sink for customers was draining wastewater into an open bucket, which is unsafe. The sink was required to be properly plumbed or removed, and it was removed before the re-inspection, resolving the issue. (view report)
- Lagoon Playcafe at 145 Pioneer Parkway, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on August 12. The restaurant scored 92 out of 100. The inspector found that the sanitizer solution for towels was too strong but was corrected to the proper level during the visit. Three spray bottles with cleaning chemicals were unlabeled but were labeled immediately. A mop was stored improperly and needs to be positioned to air-dry without touching surfaces. The floor-wall junction near the dishwashing area is damaged and must be repaired to ensure surfaces are smooth, cleanable, and nonabsorbent. All issues were addressed or require prompt correction to maintain safety and cleanliness. (view report)

Note on today’s report: Some of the incidents listed are not recent. This can happen for a couple of reasons: Delays in agency reporting — sometimes officials don’t file reports right away, or agencies release batches of reports weeks later. Delays in public complaints — people may not notice or decide to contact police until some time after an incident. Please contact the responsible law-enforcement agency or your local elected officials if you have concerns about their delay in releasing information.
