Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Taqueria El Trenecito at 1505 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 7. The restaurant received a score of 73 out of 100 during its inspection. Key issues included employees consuming food and drinks in food preparation areas, raw foods improperly stored above ready-to-eat items, unlabeled toxic materials, unapproved chemical sanitizers, and inadequate pest control. Corrective actions were taken immediately, such as reorganizing food storage, labeling containers, and increasing cleaning frequency. Additionally, the restaurant was advised to ensure outer openings are secured to prevent pests and to remove unnecessary items from the kitchen. Overall, improvements are needed to meet health and safety standards. (view report)

  • Taco Latino at 152 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on July 7. The restaurant received a score of 92 out of 100. The inspector noted several issues: a cover for the fresh water tank was missing, the potable water hose was not properly connected to the mobile unit, and two hoses lacked certification for safe use with drinking water. Additionally, there was a buildup of residues under the equipment. Required actions include installing protective covers, ensuring all equipment is securely connected, using certified food-grade hoses, and increasing the cleaning frequency of nonfood-contact surfaces to prevent residue accumulation.
