Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Calle Steelo Taqueria Llc at 1650 Centennial Blvd., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on June 29. The restaurant received a score of 97 out of 100 during the inspection. Observations included employees drinking from unapproved containers above food meant for public consumption and broken parts on a refrigerator door. Corrective actions required employees to only use covered drink containers with handles or straws in food preparation areas and to repair or replace any damaged equipment and utensils to ensure they are smooth, durable, and easy to clean. The inspector discussed these issues with the manager and provided information on proper drink containers for employees. (view report)

  • Tonalli Latin Kitchen at 418 A St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on June 29. The restaurant received an inspection score of 89 out of 100. The inspector noted that employees were using inappropriate beverage cups in the kitchen, which was corrected immediately by switching to cups with lids and straws. The handwashing sink’s water temperature was only 80ยฐF, below the required 100ยฐF, but repairs are scheduled for the hot water tank, with a re-inspection planned in 14 days. Additionally, a dish was found at 115ยฐF instead of the required 165ยฐF; this was also corrected on the spot by reheating the food properly. (view report)
