Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Tall Firs Cafe And Events at 1488 18th St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on March 18. The restaurant scored 86 out of 100. During the inspection, soap was missing at a men’s restroom sink but was added immediately. Some refrigerated ready-to-eat foods were kept too long or not properly date-marked; these were discarded and staff were instructed on proper labeling. The consumer advisory about raw or undercooked foods was incomplete and must be updated by the next inspection. Several unlabeled food containers and improperly stored utensils were corrected. Clean single-use items were found stored on the floor and must be raised. Equipment like freezer gaskets needs repair. Rodent droppings were found and required cleaning. The men’s restroom door lacks a self-closing mechanism and ceiling tiles and walls need repair for cleanliness. (view report)
