Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Mod Pizza – Springfield at 1820 Olympic St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on October 30. The restaurant scored 92 out of 100. Inspectors found an employee’s drink and phone on a food prep table, which was corrected immediately by moving them to prevent contamination. A pizza paddle with chipped edges was removed and replaced to avoid food contamination. Additionally, lights above the food prep area lacked proper shields; the restaurant was instructed to install protective covers to prevent broken glass from contaminating food. All issues were addressed promptly during the inspection. (view report)

  • Steves Breakfast And More at 117 S 14th St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on October 30. The restaurant scored 86 out of 100. Inspectors found an uncovered employee drink near the beverage station, an uncovered ice bin by the register, and a slicer with food debris, all corrected during the visit. Sausage patties were not fully surrounded by ice but were repositioned properly. Shredded potatoes lacked a time label, which was added. The walk-in refrigerator door seal was damaged and rusty, and the ceiling, wall, and floor surfaces in storage and dishwashing areas were damaged or poorly repaired, needing proper smooth, cleanable repairs.
