Good morning all,

For me, the day after an election always feels like a bit of a letdown. You follow a day when everyone is working late, updating multiple stories, calling candidates and eating the mandatory pizza (we went with Pegasus Pizza) to a day that starts a little later and almost inevitably feels slower.

But Lookout correspondents were busy Wednesday, updating stories with new numbers and tracking races that either made a winner more apparent or saw the race tighten. You can check out the updated results here for Lane County races. And you can find all of our election night coverage here.

Speaking of elections, we have an editorial today about what lessons we should take away from the primary results. One good bit of news? After a slow start, voter turnout exceeded the most recent similar election, in 2022.

Here’s a challenge: In 2022, general election voter turnout in Lane County was 45.9%. Statewide, turnout was 66.9%. Let’s see if we can get Lane County turnout this November to exceed 70%. We have six months to get the word out and come October, be prepared for an onslaught of “did you vote yet” messaging. What do you think? Possible?

So what’s new this morning?

This week, White Bird Clinic launched a new mobile unit offering primary care, wound treatment, lab work and medication management for unhoused people who rely on CSS for services and shelter. Grace Chinowsky stopped by and has the story.

It’s Thursday, so that means Annie Aguiar gives us her list of things we should be doing, which also means there are at least five she convinced me sound cool, but I won’t be able to make up my mind and thus, will do none. Hopefully, you are better at making decisions.

More than 700 athletes from across the country are in town for the Black Student-Athlete Summit, a three-day event to learn about finances, branding and how to succeed as Black student-athletes in the modern NCAA landscape. Tyson Alger stopped by to talk with some of the attendees.
