Updated with additional information from Eugene police.

Eugene police blocked all traffic Wednesday, May 20, at High Street and 15th Avenue while investigating a hit-and-run collision that injured a bicyclist.

The collision took place at 1:28 p.m. and involved a stolen truck later found in a parking lot near East 17th Avenue and Alder Street, police said Wednesday evening.

Two people seen in the vehicle were described as wearing black hoodies and face masks, police said.

Shortly after 2 p.m., police had blocked all traffic at the intersection. An officer at the scene, Mikhail Budris, said police were still interviewing witnesses but that the collision involved a red pickup truck with an Idaho license plate headed east on 15th Street.

The truck struck an adult woman riding a bicycle, Budris said. Later, police said the bicyclist had been riding south in a High Street bike lane.

High Street has protected bicycle lanes, and a stop sign at the intersection requires vehicles on 15th Street to stop before crossing the street. The area is in the West University neighborhood, near the University of Oregon.

The woman sustained injuries requiring her to be taken by ambulance to a hospital, Budris said.

“As far as extent of the injuries, we’re not sure right now,” Budris said. The woman was conscious and alert when driven to the hospital, he said.

By evening, normal traffic had resumed, a police spokesperson said.
