Good morning, Lookout Eugene-Springfield,
Springfield Public Schools has a new leader, albeit temporary, after the Springfield Board of Education voted unanimously last night to approve Jodi O’Mara as acting superintendent. Lilly St. Angelo was there.
The Eugene City Council voted last night to make the city’s Municipal Court a court of record, which it says will reduce a backlog of misdemeanor cases before the Lane County Circuit Court. Grace Chinowsky has the details.
Angie Deaver is the records officer with the Lane County Sheriff’s Department, which means she is responsible for handling public records requests. Ben Botkin sat down with her for our Tuesday feature on people in Lane County.

Springfield school board approves new acting superintendent

Board members unanimously voted for Jodi O’Mara, former superintendent of Mapleton School District for 10 years, to lead Springfield Public Schools for the next four months. Next, the school board will choose a new member to fill its fifth seat.

Eugene Municipal Court to become court of record

Without the change, approved via city council ordinance, city staff warned of overwhelming caseloads for the county circuit court and thinner dockets for Eugene’s Community Court.
