After Springfield officials got an earful from residents about their response to the January 2024 ice storm, geographic information specialists created an app to better serve different neighborhoods during emergencies. Lillian Schrock-Clevenger reports.
The Lane Fire Authority board is asking the public for input on a proposed property tax increase, citing rising personnel and equipment costs.
Good news for Eugene: It ranks 10th in Allstate’s survey of safest driving cities. And Mya Cash, winner of the Miss Oregon pageant, hails from Eugene.
Our staff was busy over the weekend. In case you missed it, arts and culture correspondent Annie Aguiar attended her first Oregon Country Fair — and she had a blast. Photographer Isaac Wasserman shared photos from the weekend at the fair along with a look book highlighting some of the fashion he saw in Veneta. Isaac and Lillian also covered the Ukrainian Day festival Saturday in Springfield at Nativity Ukrainian Catholic Church.
A few weeks ago I put out a call for streaks — and I heard back from several people. John Wallace of Eugene, who has run at least a mile per day for more than 35 years, has an incredible streak going. Other area residents have fun streaks of different types and lengths.
