Springfield School District is at last in the process of adopting a new elementary science curriculum — which has been at the heart of the district’s year of conflict between the school board and district leaders. Lilly St. Angelo has been following this and explains where it stands.

Newly obtained emails that go back years between PeaceHealth executive Jim McGovern and emergency department doctors appear to show him pressing care decisions. Ashli Blow reports.

The Ducks have a new offensive lineman, Michael Bennett III, who is a transfer from Yale. As Tyson Alger reports, no one seems to think Bennett will have any trouble learning the playbook.

Springfield schools starts elementary science curriculum adoption process

After a two-year postponement, Springfield is rolling out its own elementary science curriculum, made from a patchwork of several different curricula. The adoption will follow an independent review process, which includes an opportunity for the public to view the materials and make comments.

PeaceHealth exec pressed doctors on care decisions for years, newly obtained emails show

Chief Hospital Executive Jim McGovern’s emails questioning care decisions of doctors in the PeaceHealth’s emergency and hospital medicine departments go back to at least 2021. Physicians told Lookout Eugene-Springfield that medical staff have deepening concerns about how the system responded to doctors’ patient safety complaints.
