Good evening,
- Eugene artist Jud Turner has a bit of work around Eugene: the shiny dinosaur by Ninkasi, the chrome heron at the Riverfront Park, the blue heron by UO. He is now wrapping up a new project that he says is more meaningful and ambitious than some of his earlier work. It’s a sculpture of a P’Squosa tribal chief on horseback that is headed to Wenatchee, Washington. You can see it Saturday before it leaves town.
- Does Eugene have Pocky in a vending machine? Yes, it does, at Yamada Vending. It’s a shop that gives a little taste of a widespread practice in Japan, where all sorts of items are sold from vending machines. If you don’t know what Pocky is, go get some.
- If you use either of the state parks near Dexter Reservoir, be prepared to start paying fees for day use. The two sites are among 21 that are getting new fees as the Oregon parks department tries to fix a budget shortfall.
- Friday, Mayor Kaarin Knudson will be interviewed live at Eugene City Club. You can check it out live or stream it from the comfort of your couch.
- Oakridge and other parts of eastern Lane County are expected to see more smoke from the Emigrant Fire over the next few days. An air quality advisory is in effect, so take care, especially if you have health conditions that could be aggravated.
