Two Springfield police officers stabbed by Daniel Kahn, the man later shot and killed by another officer, are back on the job full time. And now that Lane County’s district attorney has ruled the shooting was legally justified, Springfield police will conduct its own review of the shooting.

Lane County and Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality have no plans to reexamine the old dump under Alton Baker Park, which contains toxins, even though previous assessments are decades old and were inconclusive.

Lane County’s unemployment rate inched up in August, to 4.9%. The health care industry, however, added jobs and was a bright spot, an economist said.

Avelo Airlines is leaving Eugene sooner than it previously said it would. The airline, which has been the focus of protests for participating in ICE deportations, now says it will end Eugene flights to and from Burbank, California, on Oct. 20.

A letter to the editor has some words for elected officials who use their office as “an opportunity to advance your own ego.”

Injured Springfield officers back to full duty as review continues into police shooting
