ICE officials in Eugene detained four Columbian nationals who had been arrested earlier by Eugene police in connection with a string of burglaries of Asian American households. ICE took them into custody after they were released on bail from the Lane County Jail. Jaime Adame explains.
Christine Drazan announced today she will run for governor again. The Republican lawmaker from Canby lost to Democrat Tina Kotek in 2022. Drazan is planning a visit to Lane County tomorrow.
Lane County is considering a new site for a proposed high-tech trash-sorting facility. After running into land-use conflicts at a site in Goshen, officials are thinking about building the project at the existing Short Mountain Landfill instead. The project, called CleanLane, is intended to separate more recyclables and food waste from garbage sent to the landfill. Michael Zhang has the story.
After one stormy weekend, expect another. A new “atmospheric river” is forecast to roll in by next weekend. Eugene and Springfield didn’t get the worst of Saturday’s storm – about 10,000 residences in Salem lost power last weekend. Ashli Blow reports.
