Good evening,

It’s Friday. It’s a full moon. Be careful out there.

A committee of leading doctors at PeaceHealth’s RiverBend hospital has lodged a complaint with the Oregon Medical Board against Dr. Jim McGovern, PeaceHealth’s chief hospital executive for Oregon. Health reporter Ashli Blow has the story, following up her earlier coverage of the issue, when doctors made less formal allegations that McGovern routinely overstepped the bounds of his license by trying to influence patient care.

On a related note, Ashli will be back in court on Monday morning to continue her coverage of the ongoing hearing in the lawsuit over the PeaceHealth ER situation. If you happen to run into her, buy her a cup of coffee.

April is the cruelest month, they say, and that was true in Eugene’s restaurant scene, as two long-standing eateries — The Davis downtown and Izakaya Meiji in the Whiteaker — both closed up shop, apparently forever. Taylor Goebel reports.

On the upside, Taylor previews a few foodie events coming up in May: from VeganFest (Sunday) to MargaritaFest (ongoing till May 5) to the Eugene Tea Festival (coming up May 31).

Federal prosecutors charged two Lane County women, alleging they are “local distributors” in a multinational methamphetamine and fentanyl ring. Jaime Adame has the details.
