I’ve watched what happens when leadership works — and when it doesn’t. I had the privilege of witnessing Sean VanGordon’s leadership firsthand as he partnered with Cornerstone Community Housing to bring the Alma Apartments to life, providing housing for survivors and many others in our community. That project is a testament to what’s possible when a leader is willing to roll up their sleeves and work collaboratively toward something meaningful.
Consistency matters in public service. When leadership is marked by conflict and unpredictability, it makes everything harder, especially for staff, for partners and the communities we serve. I’ve seen this with the incumbent, who has been censured and whose divisive approach has made productive governance nearly impossible. It’s time for steadier, more collaborative leadership.
VanGordon understands how decisions affect daily life, our roads, public safety, housing. He doesn’t just talk about solutions; he works with others to actually move them forward. He comes ready to listen and asking how he can help. That approach builds the kind of trust that gets things done.
VanGordon has served Springfield well as mayor, and I believe he will serve our entire county just as well. That’s why I’m voting for him, and I hope you will too.
