Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Tacos Pirekua at 5395 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on May 21. The restaurant scored 92 out of 100. Inspectors found cooked meat in the refrigerator that was over 7 days old, which is unsafe. The food was discarded during the inspection, and staff were reminded to properly date and use or discard potentially hazardous foods within 7 days. Additionally, the restaurant lacked a test kit to measure the strength of chlorine sanitizer solutions, but they obtained test strips during the inspection to ensure proper cleaning. • Long-term projects: Construction is happening on 36th Street between Main Street and Commercial Avenue as part of the GO Bond Street Repair Project. Work started the week of April 27 and is expected to finish by September 30. Local residents can still get to their homes, but there will be temporary lane and driveway closures, and some areas will have no parking. Drivers may notice changes to travel routes, construction noise, dust, and heavy equipment in the area. Advance notice will be given before any closures.
