The University of Oregon placed a 31-year-old marching band employee on paid administrative leave Wednesday, May 20, after his arrest on a Washington state charge of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
Jerdil Castillo, a graduate student worker, was arrested Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service at his office in the Frohnmayer Music Building, UO spokesperson Angela Seydel said.
He faces a pending criminal case in Benton County, Washington, according to Seydel and online court records, which show he was charged March 10 in Benton County Superior Court, with an arrest warrant issued April 2.
Castillo has been employed in the UO marching band program since September, Seydel said.
