A 42-year-old Springfield man died on Saturday, Oct. 18, after laying down the motorcycle he was riding and then being struck by another motorcycle on Interstate 5 in Linn County, about 30 miles north of Springfield.

Joshua David Moore died after being taken to an area hospital, according to the Oregon State Police.

Moore, headed north, lost control of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle while slowing for traffic, laying down the motorcycle in a lane of travel, the state police said.

He was struck by a motorcycle operated by Jan Allen Hicks Sr., 60, of Eugene, who was reportedly uninjured in the collision. State police responded at 11:40 a.m. to the crash.
