A community meal and discussion in support of people facing hunger in Gaza will take place Saturday, Sept. 6, at First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St.
Chef Ibrahim Hamide of Cafe Soriah will prepare a simple meal starting at noon. At 1 p.m., Dr. Mark Brauner, an emergency room doctor who recently spent two weeks in Gaza, will share his experiences.
Donations are encouraged and will go directly to two organizations providing hot meals in Gaza: World Central Kitchen and the American Friends Service Committee. Donations can also be made online. Organizers ask attendees to give what they can, but no one will be turned away at the door.
