A 28-year-old Oregon City man has been indicted on seven counts of luring a minor after a Lane County Sheriff’s Office investigation.

Cody Allen Hinze has also been charged with attempted use of a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. The indictment was filed Monday, Nov. 2, in Lane County Circuit Court.

Court documents describe the alleged luring as taking place in August and September. The sheriff’s office in a news release said detectives began investigating in September alleged luring of a minor and online exploitation.

The person allegedly victimized by Hinze lives in Lane County, the sheriff’s office said.

Online court records show Hinze was convicted in July 2025 in Clackamas County of online sexual corruption of a child. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said Hinze was released from prison in July.

Hinze was taken into custody Oct. 20 with assistance from Clackamas County Parole and Probation, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said.
