Eugene police have shut down Highway 99 after a vehicle struck a pedestrian Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Police received a report at about 3 p.m. of the crash, which took place between Roosevelt Boulevard and Royal Avenue. Highway 99 was expected to be closed until about 5:30 p.m., police said.
No details about the collision were immediately released by police.
Dispatch records show medics were called to the 450 block of Highway 99 North.Â
The four-lane thoroughfare has been the site of at least seven pedestrian fatalities from 2023 through 2025, according to data released by the city.Â
The deaths from 2023 through 2025 accounted for about 30% of pedestrian fatalities throughout the city. Eugene police this year have done multiple targeted patrols to emphasize safety along the corridor.
