A person struck by a train Saturday, Sept. 12, in Springfield was taken to a hospital for treatment, a spokesperson for Union Pacific railroad said in an email.

A “trespasser” on the tracks near South Fifth Street at about 11:30 a.m. was struck by a train, said Union Pacific spokesperson Jill Micek.

Micek said the collision was under investigation.
