A 74-year-old Eugene man died Tuesday, Aug. 19, when the car he was driving went off Highway 58 and down an embankment about 15 miles southeast of Oakridge, Oregon State Police said Friday.

Joseph Bowers Luker Sr. was westbound in a Nissan Sentra when the car left the road for an unknown reason, state police said. After traveling down the embankment, the car rolled onto its side.

The car travelled some 45 to 50 feet down the embankment, said Kyle Kennedy, a State Police spokesperson.

Luker died at the scene, state police said.
