Firefighters from Eugene Springfield Fire quickly controlled a small vegetation fire Monday in the Willow Creek area of West Eugene.
At about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, firefighters responded to reports of a fire near West 18th Avenue and Willow Creek, after reports of smoke in the Willow Creek Preserve.
Fire officials said the blaze was fueled by dry temperatures, moderate winds and dense vegetation and burned about 3.5 acres on the south side of Willow Creek, with three spots on the north side of Willow Creek.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No structures were threatened in the fire, and no injuries were reported. The Willow Creek Apartments, near the scene of the fire, were not evacuated.
