Lane Education Service District has two vacant seats on its board of directors — one at-large and one to represent the Springfield Public Schools area.

As a county-wide public education entity, Lane ESD offers technology, administrative, school improvement and special education contractual services to Lane County’s 16 districts. Lane ESD fills gaps especially for small, rural districts with fewer resources, but also provides costly services for disabled students in the county’s largest districts.

The Lane ESD Board of Directors is a seven-member board that oversees the organization, making decisions about the organization’s policies, budget and superintendent.

To be an eligible board applicant, a person must be a registered voter, meet the residency requirements of the board seat that they are applying to, and not be a Lane ESD employee. Applicants should submit their applications by 5 p.m, Aug. 10, after which board members will select the applicants they’d like to interview at their Sept. 1 public meeting.
