UPDATES

Fourth quarter

4:15 p.m.: The late rally fell short as the Ducks fell 17-15 to UCLA.

4 p.m.: The Ducks scored to pull within 2 points, missing the 2-point conversion. There is 2:16 left, and Oregon has two timeouts remaining.

3:34 p.m.: I have never seen a drive chart like this in my 13 years of covering Oregon football.

3:24 p.m.: Big round of applause here at Autzen Stadium as Brock Thomas comes in the game to replace Dylan Raiola.

Some reading on Thomas:

3:19 p.m.: After the entire UCLA roster dances on the turf during “Shout,” the Bruins follow up with a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Ty Dieffenbach to Wayne Knight to extend the lead to 17-6 with 13:31 to play.

Third quarter

3:02 p.m.: The second half has yet to look any better for the Oregon offense. The Ducks punted on their first possession and an Evan Stewart fumble on their second possession has set the Bruins up deep in Oregon territory.

Second quarter

2:20 p.m.: For those counting, that was three turnovers in the final two minutes of the second half, courtesy of a Raiola interception sandwiched between a pair from Iamaleava.

At halftime, Oregon trails UCLA 10-6.

1:57 p.m.: Not much worth cheering for so far inside of Autzen Stadium, but a blocked UCLA field goal here with 2:24 remaining in the half will get a rise out of the dormant crowd. Bruins still lead 10-6.

1:44 p.m.: Turnovers are now costing both teams. This time it burns the Ducks: an Oregon fumble on a handoff between Dierre Hill Jr. and Jordon Davison eventually turns into points for the Bruins when Wayne Knight takes a direct snap into the end zone for a 35-yard score.

With 8:08 to play in the second quarter, UCLA leads 10-6.

First quarter:

1:22 p.m.: END OF FIRST QUARTER: OREGON 6, UCLA 3

The explosive start has transitioned into a game of attrition as the first quarter comes to an end with both teams trading punts. Oregon is still hanging onto a 6-3 lead, but the Ducks’ offense has been very flat — and only put points on the board thanks to the UCLA turnover on the goal line.

So far, Raiola has completed just three of his eight passes for 23 yards.

12:56 p.m.: That’s one way to get out of a hole: UCLA fumbled on its first play from scrimmage after the punt, which the Ducks recovered at the 1-yard-line.

On the next play, Jordon Davison punched it in for the touchdown to give Oregon a 6-3 lead — after a failed two-point attempt — with 7:57 to play.

12:52 p.m.: The Ducks pick up a lone first down on their first series under Dylan Raiola before having to punt.

UCLA ball now with 8:10 to play in the first and a 3-0 lead.

12:44 p.m.: The Oregon Ducks were worried about UCLA’s rushing attack. So how do the Bruins open the game? With a play-action pass completed for 62 yards that would have been a touchdown with a better pass.

And that mattered: While the Bruins reached the red zone, the Ducks stuffed UCLA at the goal line, limiting the Bruins to just a field goal.

With 10:50 to go in the first quarter, UCLA leads 3-0.

12:10 p.m.: The Ducks and Bruins are both on the field going through their pre-game warm-ups. While Dante Moore is not playing today, he is out on the field — not in gear — wearing sunglasses.

He might need them today: It’s gorgeous out there today. Sunny, crisp and perfect football weather.

We’ll have more updates once the game kicks off at 12:30 p.m.
