QuickTake:

Here is everything you need to get ready for Week 4 of the Ducks’ college football season, as Oregon takes on the Oregon State Beavers.

Happy rivalry game, to you.

Sure, the Oregon and Oregon State game no longer has a name. And yes, the 129th meeting between the two programs on Saturday is taking place in September, as a nonconference game with a five-touchdown spread. And no, it’s no longer a conference matchup — or even a game that will be played next year.

It’s still the Ducks and Beavers. And here’s what you need to know as you go about your game day morning — and make sure you stick around for live updates throughout the game.

Oregon State player to watch: Maalik Murphy, quarterback

While Oregon State is not expected to present a test tougher than what Oregon’s seen thus far, the Beavers’ first-year quarterback, Maalik Murphy, will be the most talented opponent the Ducks have played to date.

The former Duke quarterback has a big arm and has been one of the few bright spots for an Oregon State team that’s lost three straight to start the year. Murphy is completing 61 percent of his passes, has thrown for 893 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for another. While he’s been sacked six times and had five passes intercepted, a fair amount of that can be placed on an underperforming offensive line and a running game that ranks 132nd in the country.

“It seems like they got a good quarterback out of the transfer portal this year,” former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said. “But it takes that at many positions to enable you to compete.”

Oregon player to watch: Malik Benson, wide receiver

The Florida State transfer has been solid so far in his first season with the Ducks, leading Oregon with 11 receptions and 161 receiving yards, along with a pair of touchdowns.

While freshman Dakorien Moore and junior tight end Kenyon Sadiq have drawn most of the praise and highlights, Murphy has proven to be a reliable presence for a young and inexperienced group of receivers who have flourished throughout the first quarter of the season.

And while Benson will only be in Eugene one year, he’s excited to experience what it means to play Oregon State.

“One thing I just took away from this rivalry for them, it just means a lot to them,” Benson said he learned from his teammates. “Guys like me that are not from here, just gotta embrace that and be there for my teammates this week.”
