Having lived in the Ferry Street Bridge neighborhood for more than 75 years, I’ve seen a lot of elected officials come and go. In Ward 5, I believe we have a clear choice.
Mike Clark has a proven record of more than 20 years of service to Ward 5 and Eugene. He brings experience, independence and a willingness to ask tough questions when City Hall gets off track.
I question whether Mike’s opponent fully appreciates the demands of a council position that pays just a modest stipend but can require 30 to 35 hours of work a week, particularly given her uncertain employment situation. I’m also concerned about her accepting financial support from an out-of-state activist. If you can’t secure permanent residency, how can you represent the people who live in the neighborhood?
At a time when Eugene families are struggling with the cost of living, we need a councilor focused on affordability and responsible use of our tax dollars.
Mike has consistently made public safety a priority while also addressing housing, homelessness and quality of life. His fiscally responsible approach and years of experience are exactly what Eugene needs.
Please join me in voting for Mike Clark for a voice of reason, experience and accountability on the Eugene City Council.
