I support Callee Ackland to represent Ward 4 on the Springfield City Council because of her commitment to service.
Ackland served four years in the United States Navy, and her service didn’t end when she discharged from the military. Here in Springfield, she volunteers on the Planning Commission and at the Springfield Public Library. She continues to find ways to share her time and talents for the benefit of our community.
To me, public service is about being willing to show up, do the work, contribute to something larger than yourself, and persist through obstacles and challenges. Ackland has demonstrated that commitment throughout her life, first to her country and now to Springfield.
At Veterans Memorial Plaza in Willamalane Park stand The Lionesses, three bronze figures representing past, present and future women’s service in our Armed Forces. I have always appreciated what that memorial says about Springfield. We are a community that remembers and honors those who step forward to serve.
Callee Ackland has spent much of her life doing just that. She earned my vote for Springfield City Council, and I hope she can earn yours too.
