I’ve been involved in an effort in Portland to ban gas-powered leaf blowers and also focus attention on the transition in the lawn care industry from gas to electric for the past eight years.

We finally have a ban on these tools in Portland, and something has happened that I really wasn’t expecting as a result. Things are much quieter here now. It’s quite a big change and not something I ever would have expected.

I want to encourage people in the Eugene-Springfield area to also move forward with this change. You have something so delicious to look forward to, and that is less air and noise pollution. Not only that, but the people who use these tools will live better lives as a result.
