From Monday, Sept. 28, to Friday, Oct. 2, construction will take place at W 30th Ave. and Portland St. to build a new Cascade Manor retirement community opening in Spring 2027. During this time, on-street parking on the west side of Portland St. from W 30th Ave. to W 29th Pl, as well as some parking north of W 29th Pl to W 28th Ave., will be closed. Pedestrians cannot use the west side sidewalk of Portland St. between W 30th Ave. and W 29th Pl and should cross at the northwest corner of W 30th Ave. and Portland St. to use a temporary ADA-accessible sidewalk on the east side. Pedestrians on W 30th Ave. west of Portland St. are advised to use a temporary pedestrian path on the north side of W 30th Ave. to reach Portland St. Be cautious of large trucks, construction equipment, and workers in the area.

McLean Boulevard will remain closed for an additional week to complete paving and striping, but local traffic can still access the road. Utility work is planned for Wednesday the 30th. Drivers should be cautious of cones and workers in the area. Two detours are in place: one reroutes traffic from before Graham Drive through Lasater, Randy, and 29th streets back to McKendrick Street and McLean Boulevard; the other directs Graham Drive traffic to Chambers Street via 28th Street.

Construction work on the 100 Year Wastewater Pipe Rehabilitation will take place during the week of Sept. 28. The following impacts will occur:
– On Sept. 28, W 6th Alley will be closed to through traffic between Polk St. and Tyler St.
– On Sept. 29, the sidewalk on the east side of Blair Blvd. between W 6th Ave. and W 7th Ave. will be closed, with pedestrians detoured to the west side of Blair Blvd.
– On Sept. 30, Polk St. will be closed between W 6th Alley and W 7th Alley.
– On Oct. 1, there will be a lane shift on Polk St. at W 5th Alley, and the road will be closed to through traffic.
These closures and detours are expected to have a low impact on traffic.
