Good evening,
- It’s the season: another day, another fire. Today, a brushfire ignited south of Fern Ridge Lake and Highway 126, forcing the evacuation of some homes near Veneta. Officials reported that fire crews had the fire under control late this afternoon.
- The man federal police arrested at a downtown ICE protest earlier this week, was detained because he is suspected of punching the mirror of a Department of Homeland Security vehicle at a different protest two weeks ago, Homeland Security said.
- George Crolly, a 27-year veteran of the Springfield Police, has been promoted to deputy chief of the department.
- A building on Willamette Street that used to house Eugene Ballet — and that now looks like a Piet Mondrian painting — is set to become a community and resource center for the LGTBQ+ community in Eugene, thanks to a $2.5 million donation.
