Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • Pour House Tavern, 444 42nd St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Oct. 6. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found that some foods in the bar refrigerator were kept too warm and the milk was discarded; that unlabeled containers with oils and powders need proper labeling; that debris and residue were found under the bar and kitchen equipment requiring more frequent cleaning; that two outdoor dumpsters were left open and must be kept closed; and that several walls, ceilings, and floors in the kitchen and storage areas are damaged or unfinished and need repair to be smooth, durable, and easy to clean. All issues were corrected or require prompt attention. (view report)

  • Time Thai Cuisine, 3831 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Oct. 6. The restaurant received a score of 95 out of 100. The inspector found that two non-food-grade plastic totes were being used to store dry goods, which is unsafe because these containers can affect the food’s quality. The restaurant was required to stop using these containers immediately. During a follow-up inspection, the issue was corrected, and the restaurant now uses only food-safe containers for storing food. • Quack Taco, 120 S 35th St., Springfield, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on Oct. 6. The restaurant scored 79 out of 100. Issues included an unprotected water hose that could get contaminated, which must be fixed with proper covers; a handwashing sink blocked by a container, which was cleared during inspection and must remain accessible only for handwashing; raw foods like chorizo, bacon, and eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods, risking contamination; at least four food containers uncovered; potentially hazardous foods like cooked rice and chicken stored at unsafe temperatures, leading to disposal of some items and requiring refrigerator repair; unlabeled toxic chemical containers; unlabeled food containers with powders; broken or damaged food containers and lids needing repair or replacement; and a refrigerator not maintaining proper temperatures, requiring repair or replacement.
