More than 2,200 people registered for the Eugene Marathon, half-marathon, 5K and “Duck Dash” for kids in the first 24 hours of registration for the events, to be held April 24-25, 2027. 

According to a statement from race officials, the event “experienced its biggest single day of registrations ever” and is “currently tracking 42% ahead of the record-setting numbers from the same time last year.”

Entries cost $160 for the full marathon, $135 for the half-marathon, $30 for the 5K and a suggested donation of $20 for the Duck Dash. Prices increase Oct. 15.

Registration for 2027 was open for five days during race weekend in April, when early birds paid $130 and $100 for the marathon and half-marathon, respectively. Registration was closed over the summer months before it reopened at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. 

The 2026 race sold out by mid-January, three months ahead of the race. For 2027, it appears the race could sell out even earlier.

“The energy surrounding our 20th anniversary is incredible, and seeing the biggest opening day in our history confirms that the running community is as excited as we are,” Race Director Ian Dobson said in the statement. “As registration is tracking well ahead of last year’s pace, our team is focused on working with our partners to deliver a world-class race-day experience.” 

Nationwide, distance running is experiencing boom times, and the Eugene Marathon, the largest in the Pacific Northwest, has become a sought-after race. 

“When things get popular, they do sell out quickly,” Dobson told Lookout Eugene-Springfield over the summer. “We want to make sure that our core population, which is Eugene and Springfield runners, that they’re not missing out on it, because it has grown and become a popular event.”
