Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • El Charro at 495 Harlow Rd, passed a county health inspection on December 22 with no issues. (view report)

  • Oishii Sushi at 1817 Pioneer Pkwy E, was cited for issues during a county health inspection on December 29. The restaurant received a score of 95 out of 100. Inspectors found that the dishwasher was not dispensing enough chlorine sanitizer, which is needed to properly clean dishes. After the issue was identified, the restaurant fixed the problem by ensuring the dishwasher now dispenses the correct amount of chlorine sanitizer (50 ppm). They were advised to regularly check sanitizer levels with test strips and maintain proper sanitizer concentrations to keep dishes safe. A follow-up inspection confirmed the problem was corrected. • Pump Cafe, The at 710 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on December 30. The restaurant scored 87 out of 100. Inspectors found employee food and drinks stored near food prep areas, which was corrected by moving them to a separate space. The chlorine sanitizer in the dishwasher was empty but was refilled to the proper level. Shredded potatoes were left out at unsafe temperatures; the restaurant now tracks time to ensure safety. Dust was found on the fire suppression pipe above the fryer and grease buildup behind and under cooking equipment; the restaurant was instructed to clean these areas regularly to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination. (view report)

  • Time Thai Cuisine at 3831 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on January 4. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found that the walk-in cooler was too warm (44°F), causing some foods like coconut milk drinks and Pad Thai sauce to be stored above the safe temperature of 41°F. The restaurant discarded these items and moved others to different fridges until the walk-in cooler is fixed. Additionally, the outside and inside of the walk-in cooler and other cold storage equipment had food debris buildup and needed cleaning. The restaurant corrected these issues by discarding unsafe food, relocating items, and cleaning the equipment. (view report)
