The 2025 USA Outdoor Track and Field and Para National Championships start Thursday, July 31, at Hayward Field. Here’s what to know about the competitions and athletes.
What are the two different championships?
The USA Track & Field Outdoor National Championships features the best runners, jumpers and throwers in the country, including many Olympians from 2024. This meet is also the qualifying event for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, coming up Sept. 14-20.
The Para National Championships are the qualifying event for the 2025 Para National World Championships in New Delhi, India, which will be Sept. 26 to Oct. 5. Para athletes compete in different classifications, depending on their impairment.
When do they start?
Competition starts Thursday, July 31, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 3. Here are the start times of the first and last events of each day:
- Day 1: 10:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Day 2: 11 a.m. and 7:25 p.m.
- Day 3: 6:30 a.m. and 5:25 p.m.
- Day 4: 11:30 a.m. and 2:54 p.m.
This is the first time the U.S. Outdoor Championships are being combined with the Para Nationals. Events in the two different meets often alternate on the schedule.

Single-day general admission tickets are available online, starting at $45. One ticket covers admission to both meets.

How big is Hayward Field?
Hayward Field has a capacity of 12,650. Although tickets were hard to come by for last month’s Prefontaine Classic, plenty of tickets are usually available for the U.S. championships.
How to get to Hayward Field, where to park
Lane Transit Direct offers daily bus service near Hayward Field on the EmX, connecting Eugene and Springfield. Schedule information is available online.
There is no designated parking for the meet; however, metered and neighborhood parking is available near the track.
What can I bring?
Hayward Field has a clear-bag policy. Fans are allowed to bring in one clear, see-through bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. A clear gallon-sized plastic bag is also allowed. Small clutches and purses are permitted.
Can I watch at home?
Yes, both championships will be available on demand at USATF.tv every day and broadcast on NBC 1-3 p.m. Aug. 2-3.
