Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here

  • Iris Vineyards at 322 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on August 28. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found that the automatic dishwasher’s chlorine sanitizer was not working properly, showing ppm instead of the required 50 ppm. The restaurant was instructed to fix this immediately. While the dishwasher was being repaired, they used a different sanitizer solution in the sink to clean utensils properly. A follow-up inspection within 14 days confirmed the dishwasher was fixed and met the required chlorine level, resolving the issue. (view report)

  • Sugar Kisses at 418 “a” St., passed a county health inspection on August 28 with no issues. (view report)

  • The Monkey’s Paw, at 420 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on August 28. The restaurant scored 95 out of 100. The inspector found five copper mugs at the bar, which were removed immediately because copper should not touch acidic foods. The outside of refrigeration units and the area around the grease trap were dirty and need more frequent cleaning. The garbage and recycling area had debris and must be cleaned and maintained. The floor near the three-compartment sink was damaged and temporarily covered with a board and tape; it needs proper repair. Also, the wall by the kitchen handwashing sink was damaged and must be fixed to be smooth and easy to clean. (view report)

  • Squacho’s Bar & Grill at 471 S A St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on August 28. The restaurant received a score of 95 out of 100. The inspector found that some drinks in the bar refrigerator were stored at unsafe temperatures above 41°F, which can cause food safety risks. The restaurant immediately discarded the milk, apple cider, and V8 juice that were too warm, adjusted the refrigerator thermostat, and ensured all drinks were kept at safe temperatures below 41°F. A follow-up inspection will occur within 14 days to confirm the issue is resolved. (view report)
