Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports both those who have passed the inspections and those where the county observed issues to correct. The county’s full ongoing reports can be accessed here.

  • El Pique Mexican Food at 1870 Main St., was cited for issues during a county health inspection on April 16. The restaurant scored 81 out of 100. Inspectors found an employee drink stored improperly on a food prep surface, ice and items blocking a handwashing sink, low chlorine sanitizer levels in the dishwashing sink, expired date-marked cooked foods, missing consumer advisory for undercooked eggs on the menu, improper utensil storage using a bowl as a scoop, and damaged containers and lids that are hard to clean. All issues were corrected during the inspection except the consumer advisory, which must be added before the next inspection. Staff were instructed on proper hygiene and food safety practices.
