It’s weird having to write this, but here, Thursday afternoon, I can confirm to readers of The Duck Report that longtime Oregon broadcaster Jerry Allen is … alive.
Well, of course he is, right?
Not if you get your news via Facebook.
Late last week, a fabricated post made its way around the internet announcing the passing of Oregon’s longtime broadcaster.
It was a shock to everyone โ including Allen.
“Apparently on Facebook someone posted that I had passed into the afterlife,” Allen clarified on Twitter. “They even included a photo of me. I donโt think Iโm gone yet! Had my wife check me over this morning and Iโm still all here!!!”
Doing the due diligence readers of The Duck Report have come to expect, I was able to confirm Allen wasn’t hacked and that he is, indeed, still among us.
Here’s to a great 39th season behind the mic coming up this fall.
The schedule is here

The map back to the College Football Playoff has been laid out for the Oregon Ducks.
The Big Ten released its official schedule Tuesday, featuring a beefy Oregon conference slate that begins on the road Sept. 26 at USC, followed by a bye, and then closes the season with eight straight weeks of games.
Hey, at least the Ducks skip Big Ten power โ checks notes โ Indiana in 2026.
The big O

The land where Oregon’s outdoor practice fields used to stand is still a massive pit of construction.
But we’re beginning to see bits and pieces of what things could look like when the project wraps up in 2027.
From Lookout Eugene-Springfieldโs Elon Glucklich:
“Documents and blueprints filed Jan. 26 with the Eugene Planning and Development Department show the UOโs trademark โOโ emblem standing 24 feet tall and 29 feet wide within the sign, which would be constructed just east of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevardโs intersection with Leo Harris Parkway.
โAt 696 square feet, the โOโ symbol would blow past the 275-square-foot maximum that would be allowed under Eugene City Code based on the length of the wall.โ
The Fight at the Museum

OK, so it’s not exactly Ducks.
And it wasn’t in Eugene or Springfield.
But when Linfield wrestling holds a dual beneath the tail of the largest wooden aircraft ever built, you’ve got to go, right?
We did. And it was quite the scene.
Duck of the week

Tilde Jagare, Oregon women’s tennis
Oregon’s junior is off to a hot start for the Ducks. Playing the No. 1 position for UO, Jagare is 3-0 in singles this spring after a 7-2 fall campaign. Her two wins in duals over the weekend against Idaho and New Mexico State helped push Oregon to a 4-0 team record in 2026.
Jagare is from Gรคvle, Sweden, and the 2021 Swedish national junior champion.
