Lauren Kessler’s sobering three-part series on food insecurity in Lane County wrapped up yesterday with a focus on the network of stores, nonprofits, drivers and volunteers who rescue food and get it onto the shelves of food pantries. You can find the entire series here.
The Ducks women’s basketball team bounced back yesterday from their UCLA loss, in part thanks to Mia Jacobs, who grew up in Australia with two older sisters to toughen her up. Tyson Alger spoke with Jacobs.
Historian Steve Williamson donated two original copies of “The Fairyland Around Us,” featuring famed Cottage Grove author Opal Whiteley’s original notes and pasted-in animal pictures. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to a Cottage Grove immersive history education center. Annie Aguiar reports.
The Gateway post office in Springfield is open, but the front entrance has been boarded up for more than six months after a car crashed into some front windows. Lookout inquired, and it seems like repairs will happen soon-ish — but after the holiday rush.
