Good morning, Lookout Eugene-Springfield,

Emergency visits at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend jumped from 9,883 in 2023 to 13,687 in 2024. The average time patients spent in the emergency department also rose, reaching nearly seven hours, more than an hour above the statewide average.  Ashli Blow looks at the changes at RiverBend since the University District emergency room closed in December 2023.

Lawmakers in Salem are considering adding $65 million to the state budget to fund behavioral health treatment. Meanwhile, in Eugene, Willamette Family Inc., a nonprofit, plans to open Buckley House on July 1, adding 55 beds for detox and residential services for people suffering addiction to drugs, including fentanyl. Ben Botkin reports.

A new food event will be held in downtown Eugene this Saturday, featuring 30 food and beverage businesses. Taste of TrackTown features locations offering dishes for just $5. Vanessa Salvia has the details.

Alex Baumhardt with the Oregon Capital Chronicle looks at Senate Bill 5514, which would see state-funded preschool programs lose millions under an early childhood education in the 2025-27 budget.

And our friends at the Oregon Journalism Project have the latest on Travel Oregon, which gave its retiring CEO Todd Davidson, who already has one of the largest salaries among Oregon officials, a new employment package. But the state agency wonโ€™t share the details of that offer letter.
