About a dozen residents delivered a fiery rebuke of recent ICE activity in the area at the Lane County commissioners’ meeting yesterday. Ben Botkin reports.

In a guest column, Brook Reinhard, the former executive director of Public Defender Services of Lane County, says the recent ICE detentions at Lane County Jail set a dangerous precedent. ICE put “the public at risk and made our community less safe by sneaking into the jail lobby and making an arrest violently,” Reinhard writes.

The former director of the Oregon Coast Military Museum in Florence was sentenced yesterday to five years of probation for abusing an underage volunteer.

The Oregon Government Ethics Commission last month closed its investigation into the former dean of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication’s travel spending, finding no wrongdoing.
