It’s almost the weekend. It’s what we’ve been working for. It’s also the start of the Formula 1 season, featuring a new team, one based in the States: Cadillac. Ford returns, partnering with Red Bull to create power units for its two teams. With the uncertainty around the new rules, it’s going to be a banger at Albert Park.
We can all agree that getting kids to read is a good thing. Now, as Grace Chinowsky reports, thanks to a program between the Bethel School District and the Eugene Public Library, nearly 5,000 students will receive ready-to-use library cards.
Michael McInally continues to follow all things Lane Community College, including Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting, which approved a plan calling for additional spending cuts for the next school year. The board also approved a 1.2% tuition increase.
It has been a slow start for housing sales in Lane County. During the first two months of the year, the number of home sales was lower than 2025, 2024, and 2023. Data from the Regional Multiple Listing Service shows only 391 sales closed during the first two months of the year, down 7.7% from last year.
A project to make East Broadway more friendly for pedestrians between the University of Oregon and downtown will enter a second phase this spring, removing one eastbound lane. Grace has all of these details.
