Good morning, Lookout Eugene-Springfield,

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and that your mashed potatoes were sufficiently fluffy.

A developer is seeking the city’s permission to build a four-story affordable housing complex at Fifth Avenue and Lincoln Street, land that’s currently a parking lot. The 75-unit Lincoln Commons would be intended for people making 60% or less than the local median income. Grace Chinowsky reports.

Mike McInally went out to watch practice for the Crow Cougars, the last Lane County team remaining in Oregon’s prep football playoffs, with a state championship game for the 1A six-player title on Saturday. Mike explains how six-player football works —and why it’s so unpredictable.

Tyson Alger has a nice read about Oregon’s backup quarterback Brock Thomas, who has played well this year behind Dante Moore. The roots of Thomas’ ascent trace back to summers of baseball, friendships and a youth team stacked with future college athletes — including the Oregon athletic director’s kid.

In case you missed Bob Welch yesterday, he offered a Thanksgiving appreciation of local treasures, from geographic features to UO to waiters to the “Peace on Earth” sign at Ya-Po-Ah Terrace that lights up this time every year.
