Good evening,
Oregon’s governor has weighed in on the planned transition at PeaceHealth’s emergency departments in Lane County, including the ER at RiverBend. Gov. Tina Kotek sent a letter to a PeaceHealth executive calling for the switchover to be delayed for six months to “allow for a more thoughtful approach.” A group of state lawmakers also wrote PeaceHealth today asking for more details on the business aspect of the decision. Ashli Blow has the story.
Tuition is going up at University of Oregon for new incoming students, after a Board of Trustees vote yesterday. New in-state students will see tuition that is 4.5% higher. Out-of-state students enrolling after this academic year will see tuition that is 3% higher. Returning students will continue to pay the same amount they have been paying. Grace Chinowsky reports.
After a New York Times investigation was published today about the sexual abuse of women and girls by labor and immigrant activist Cesar Chavez, Eugene School District 4J said it will consider possible next steps regarding the name of the 4J elementary school that bears his name. Changing the name would require a vote of the school board. See Lilly St. Angelo’s story.
If you noticed a traffic backup around the Chambers overpass today, it was because of police “forcibly” stopping a reportedly stolen pickup truck on the overpass. Jaime Adame reports.
