Happy Thanksgiving eve,

You may be the kind of person who plans every detail of Thanksgiving dinner weeks in advance. Or you may be like me. Ah, the thrill of an approaching deadline! If that’s the case, you could be looking for last minute tips. Sarah Lorge Butler has a couple clever ideas for better mashed potatoes, thanks to you readers.

Ahead of the Ducks’ last regular season football game, Lookout sports correspondent Tyson Alger gets nerdy with his counterpart in Seattle, Christian Caple, who covers the Washington Huskies. If you’re a football fan who likes going deep, like a wide receiver, you’ll want to read their conversation about how things might go at Husky Stadium on Saturday.

The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission delivered an emphatic “no” to a proposal to allow spirits-based canned cocktails to be sold in grocery stores. They will continue to be available only at state liquor stores for now.

A guest column from Lane County resident John Anderson, a father of two children who’ve attended Lane Community College, says he is appalled at the recent behavior of LCC’s faculty union and its supporters on the LCC Board of Education.

By the way, tomorrow there will be no morning or evening newsletters. But I can give you a sneak peak of a few things you will see if you check in on the website tomorrow:

  • Columnist Bob Welch has a list of things he is thankful for.
  • Tyson Alger profiles Ducks backup quarterback Brock Thomas.
  • Ashli Blow wraps up Lane County’s 2025 fire season.
