A Homeland Security spokesperson acknowledged the agency arrested three people during a protest Tuesday evening at the Federal Building — an event it described as a “violent riot” — but did not identify the individuals. Several of the protesters were from Portland, one of whom told Lookout: “We really wanted to help bring more momentum down here.” Jaime Adame, Lillian Schrock-Clevenger, and Isaac Wasserman have been covering the situation.
U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden and other elected leaders were in Eugene touting Oregon’s first-in-the-nation vote-by-mail system, as President Trump has been criticizing mail voting. Ben Botkin reports.
Fewer beds likely will be available in shelters, and other services for homeless people in Lane County face cuts, as funding from the state that is used to address homelessness has been slashed nearly in half. Ben was there as county staff updated commissioners.
About three weeks ago, part of 30th Avenue near the Spring Boulevard interchange was shut down and neighbors received text alerts after a shooting in the area. A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. Jaime has the update.
