After that brief chilly spell, we’re about to see the hottest weather so far of 2026. Temperatures are supposed to hit the low 90s this weekend, though the heat shouldn’t stick around very long. Mike McInally spoke with an Oregon meteorologist to get the lowdown.
After the Ducks baseball season came to end last weekend, a bit short of the goal of the making College World Series, sportswriter Tyson Alger reflects on where things stand and how this largely “homegrown” team, as coach Mark Wasikowski put it, might take the next big step. In some ways, Tyson points out, it boils down to money. Go figure.
The city of Eugene is building a new permanent sidewalk on Pearl Street alongside the federal building after the new security fencing the feds set up blocked the existing sidewalk. The new sidewalk, costing about $50,000, will replace a temporary walkway city crews set up earlier. Jaime Adame has the details.

Construction began Tuesday, June 9, on a Pearl Street sidewalk adjacent to the Eugene Federal Building after a federal project to install temporary fencing blocked the existing sidewalk.
